Directions to the chalet from Brnik Airport, if arriving via road or via another airport head for Kamnik and follow our directions from there. You will find a useful interactive on-line map of Slovenia here:

1 Turn right out of the airport signposted Kamnik.
2. Continue on this road for 11.8 km through the some small villages including Vopovlje and Lahovce. The mountains to your left are your destination.
3. At Moste ignore the left turn to Kamnik and continue straight ahead through Menges.
4. At the traffic lights turn left signposted Kamnik. Continue on this road for 7.5 km, passing Qlandia shopping centre (good stop off for groceries - open until 9pm Monday - Saturday, 8am - 1pm Sunday).
5. As you approach the town you will see the castle on a high hill on the right.
6. There is a petrol station to your right at about this point (called Petrol Hip Hop) For guests arriving late, after the shops are closed, you can buy essentials here such as milk, bread on your way to the chalet.
7. Turn left at the 5th set of traffic lights, following the signs for the Velika Planina.
8. After 0.4kms veer right ignoring signs for Kamniska Bistrica, you will then begin to climb, passing a large church on your right. Do not turn up right at the church.
9. After 1.7 km turn right, following signs for Brezje Nad Kamnikom.
10. Stay on this road as it passes through some small hamlets and the climb through the forest.
11. When you come to the hamlet of Brezje Nad Kamnikom, continue on the road around a few bends, always staying on the asphalt road, you will pass through some narrow parts of the village.
12. You will see a wood yard (sawmill) on the left, fork left here to go up past the sawmill and continue along this asphalt road for approx 300 metres until you see the new section of asphalt road, the chalet, (Number 41) will then be directly in front of you. The outside lights will be switched on when guests are expected to arrive after dark. .

Dear Guests,

We hope you enjoy your stay at our chalet and have a great holiday. Here is some useful information to help you get the most out of your holiday:

Please telephone us directly if there are any problems we can help with.
Our representative Bianca’s number is for emergencies only or to contact someone regarding urgent chalet maintenance, broken major items, problems with power or water etc., Bianca also arranges for the cleaning to be done and linen changes before and after your stay.
For any breakages of small items (crockery etc) a gas bottle change needed, light bulbs replacements needed or other snags we would appreciate a note on the blackboard provided so these can be rectified/replaced on your departure.

Booklets for the operation of all the electrical items can be found in the storage under the bench seats around the dining table.
Please feel free to use the barbecue and outdoor equipment stored in the woodshed and laundry room.

We have left information booklets about all the local attractions and local maps inside the chalet for your use.
The staff at the tourist information office in the centre of Kamnik are very helpful and can answer any questions about the locality, where to find places and provide bike hire.

Kamnik outdoor community swimming pool is next to the campsite on the Northern outskirts of Kamnik, and open daily in the summer from10am-6pm.


Driving in Slovenia:
It is compulsory to drive with your full lights on at all times, also please be aware that speeding is strictly enforced and if caught fines are 300 EURO (reduced to 150 EURO if you can pay on the spot). If driving on the main highways you will need a vignette which will be supplied by Slovenian car hire firms, if using your own car these can be purchased from all petrol stations and border crossings.

Garden and chalet maintenance:
During your stay our friend Rasho may visit the chalet to attend to the garden and outdoor areas or to arrange for any maintenance work to be carried out. If you require the gas bottle to be changed then please ask Rasho who will be happy to help.

The mains water in Slovenia is safe to drink

You will find 2 mid sized supermarkets in Kamnik centre, Spar and Tus, a large supermarket called Mercator is just to the South of Kamnik on the road to Domzale which is well signposted from Kamnik centre, and the largest Spar supermaket is located inside the Qlandia shopping centre to the South of Kamnik on the main road to Ljubljana (if following our directions you will pass this on your left between points 4. and 5.). The shops are generally open from early every day until at least 7pm, Qlandia open until 9pm, and they close at lunchtime on Sunday.

Eating out:
The nearest restaurants are in Stahovica and we can recommend The Pri Planinskem orlu, on the road to Velika Planina (closed on Tuesdays), for traditional Slovenian fare, in the summer months they have a lovely seating area outside the restaurant, along with a more formal dining area and also a cosy dining area near the bar. There are lots of places in Kamnik to eat and drink, we can highly recommend Gostilna Mili vrh for excellent home cooked food (closed on Tuesday and Wednesday) on the outskirts of Kamnik in the village of Zhale. A nice Italian restaurant just off the pedestrian - only main street (Sutna) in Sadnikarjev alley way called Pizza Napoli, great pizzas, pasta and salads (they also offer a take away menu). After that cross Sutna to the pavement Café Slascicarna Sutna for coffee, cake and one of their delicious ice-creams. La Storia (another Italian influenced restaurant) around the corner from the large supermarket mercator (there are two) is well worth a visit too. If you like kebabs then try Jurkek on the opposite side of the main road from the smaller Mercator supermarket. The “Hong Kong” Chinese in Komenda is also highly recommended.

Sleeping arrangements:
We have added a sofa bed downstairs to make sleeping arrangements more flexible. If you wish to use this please use the bed sheet provided and duvets/pillows from the already made-up beds.

Extra thicker/thinner duvets are stored in the bedrooms in addition to the ones in use for use when the weather gets warmer/cooler.

Rubbish and recycling:
The large grey wheelie bin (general waste) is emptied every second Tuesday – please ensure that all rubbish is bagged, otherwise the bin men may refuse to empty it. The yellow bin is used for Plastic recycling only and emptied every other Tuesday. There are also recycling bins for glass, cans, tins, paper and cardboard at the roadside on the drive into Kamnik just before the "Vodice" sign.

Technical bits:

Wi-fi is provided via a mobile hotspot (the small white box on the on the shelf next to the TV). To use this ensure that it is plugged in and turned on and connect to the Pure Slovenia network (the password is "chaletnetwork"). A red light indicates no signal, green good signal and blue excellent signal.  

Use the TV remote to switch sources between the following:
SATELITE (connected to “Scart”) – mainly German channels although a few English speaking news channels.
DVD (connected to “Scart”) – A large selection of DVD’s for your viewing.
APPLETV (small black box connected to “HDMI 1”) – Numerous free news, sports and TV channels, many programmes can also be found via the YOUTUBE app. There is also a fully featured NETFLIX account set up for your use, simply navigate to the NETFLIX app and use either the “Pure Slovenia guest” or “Kids” accounts.

Music is provided via a Sonos wireless speaker, you can listen to any music stored on your phone/tablet (Apple airplay2 enabled) as well as international radio stations but you must download the Sonos Controller app on your device (apple, android or amazon) and be connected to the Wi-Fi network to use this. If you are familiar with Amazon Alexa voice control you may also make use this on the Sonos speaker.

The gas bottles for the hob are stored in the garage along with the spare new washers required for changing them. We would ask that guests do not attempt to change the bottles unless you have experience of doing this. If the gas runs out while you are visiting then please leave a note for property management so this can be changed on your departure (as the cooker is dual fuel we hope it will not be too inconvenient to use the electric instead).
The main fuse box and electric on/off switch is located behind the removable wood panel on the staircase which lead downstairs.
Hot water is supplied to the kitchen and showers via a boiler in the downstairs shower room; the switch to turn on the boiler is just outside the basement bathroom door in the downstairs bedroom (furthest switch on the right). The second switch from the right is an isolation switch for the heater in the shower room.

The wood burning stove is very easy to light, load up with newspaper, kindling and logs, light up, close the door and open up the ash tray slightly, once roaring (it won’t take long) close the ash tray and adjust the air intake with the small silver knob (screw anti-clockwise to get a slower, more even burn) please use the glove provided as it does become very hot.  Extra wood can be found in the wood shed.

Spare light bulbs, batteries for smoke alarms etc are located underneath the bench seat around the dining table. Emergency torches are located on the key hook near the front door and another downstairs. A First Aid Kit is in the laundry room.

Board games etc can be found in the coffee table storage.

A few house rules:

Strictly No Smoking inside please, due to the wooden construction of the chalet.

Towels for outside use and swimming are located in the utility room.  If used please wash and dry these for the next guests use (washing powder and fabric conditioner is provided).

It would be appreciated if you did not wear outdoor footwear inside the chalet.

Wood, Water, Electricity:
Reasonable Water, Electricity and wood costs are included in your rental charge, both water and electricity are metered. Unfortunately we will have to make an extra charge if there has been excessive use. We would ask you in the interests of cost and conservation to use these resources carefully.

Please do not burn wood on the BBQ and ensure that the BBQ is cleaned at the end of your stay if used.

Please look after your key - in the event of loss a replacement would have to be sent out via property management and would have to be charged for (including their time at 15 EURO per hour).


Please either take all food and garbage with you or dispose of it in the large wheelie bin outside. All food/garbage should be bagged or the bin will not be emptied.

Please vacate the chalet by 10am on the day of your departure to allow for cleaning and preparation of the chalet for new guests arriving. The chalet will have been cleaned and prepared for your arrival. We would ask you to leave the chalet in a reasonably clean condition and to remove all rubbish when leaving. We appreciate your co-operation in this.

On departure we would be grateful if guests could switch off the hot water boiler.

Double Lock the door with 2 turns of the key and leave the front door key in the key safe provided. Once the inventory has been checked (this could take up to 7 days), your security deposit, if paid, will be returned promptly to you. Note: we will not charge you for minor breakages such as the odd plate or glass but please leave us a note so any damaged items can be replaced before the next guests arrive.

We have tried to make the chalet as comfortable and well equipped as we could, please send us some feedback including anything you think could be improved upon, along with the best bits too. Any comments would be appreciated, and with your permission may be used in some of our advertising.
