Slovenia boasts over 25 ski resorts, many of which are within the immediate area of the chalet, Velika Planina (5km) and Krvavec (15km) bing the closest. Because the region lies on the first mountain barrier above the Adriatic Sea, substantially more snow falls here than anywhere else of similar altitude in the Alps, enabling the season to usually begin in December and last until early May. Ski passes can be obtained from the Tourist information centers to cover the Julian and Kamniske alps region.

A great attraction for family groups is the sledge trail at Velika Planina, sledges and guides can be hired at reasonable rates and fans of night-sledging will particularly enjoy this resort.

The Krvavec Ski Center (awarded the coveted crystal snowflake award by consistently being voted best ski resort in Slovenia) spreads across smooth alpine meadows and does not require a deep blanket of snow to create ideal skiing condtions. With snow guns that cover up to 90% of the trails, the season normally lasts 150 days, and 100 days are guaranteed. Exciting trails await beginners, recreational skiers, and competitors alike.

The ski center boasts the only covered chairlifts in Slovenia and prides itself on its ideal site and groomed terrain that can be completely covered with artificial snow when necessary (at least 80 skiing days guaranteed). The ski area is suitable for skiers of all skill levels, from beginners to the most advanced. Snow boards are welcome on all the slopes.
