Bled (50km/31 miles) - The lake is smaller than Bohinj lake, however it's shores are more commercialized with a good selection of shops, restaurants and cafe bars to try the local cuisine or just enjoy a coffee with a stunning view. The much photographed islet, complete with a romantic church, fairytale castle overlooking the lake and the karavanke alps as a backdrop makes Bled a must-see for visitors to Slovenia.

The Lido (castle bathing area) is situated just below the magnificent castle rock in a sunny and picturesque location. The bathing area welcomes swimmers from June to September. There are four outdoor pools, changing facilities, natural climbing wall, table tennis, waterslides, showers and beach umbrella hire. There is also a boat house with rowing boats for hire and several kiosks selling drinks and refreshments.

Walking around the lake is also very popular with well-maintained footpaths and some wonderful viewing points. A tourist train also operates for trips around the lake.
