Kamniška Bistrica (10km/6 miles) - An alpine valley which extends deep into the heart of the Kamnik and Savija Alps. A glacier which cut through the upper part of the valley left numerous remnants of glacial deposits. The river of the same name is also very picturesque. It wells up from several karstic springs which flow into a small lake. The river has carved deep troughs into which numerous glacial boulders are wedged. The area is a popular starting point for the higher mountain treks into the Kamnik Alps
